About Mischa Hendriksen

From Performing artist
to Painting artist

Mischa was raised in an environment steeped in creativity. From an early age, he was surrounded by paint, clay, and design – his father was a painter, his mother a sculptor, and his sister pursued a career as a graphic designer. Art was not merely present in his life; it was a natural part of his everyday world. It came as no surprise, then, that Mischa would carve out his own path in the creative realm.

His first calling was in dance. As a professional dancer, Mischa travelled the globe and performed on renowned international stages. For him, dance was a form of pure expression – a physical and immediate way to convey emotion. For fourteen years, he lived to the rhythm of the stage, driven by discipline, adrenaline, and passion. Yet over time, he began to feel the desire to explore a new direction.

That new chapter unfolded in the world of international art trading. Based in Amsterdam, Mischa collaborated with galleries, collectors, and artists from across the world. He developed a deep understanding of the mechanisms of the art market and came to appreciate the emotional, cultural, and economic value of art. What struck him most was its power to move, connect, and inspire – a universal language that transcends borders.

After two decades in the art world, Mischa returned to what had quietly lived within him all along: painting. Although his love for the medium had always been present, his fast-paced career had left little room for personal artistic exploration. Now, he found the time and space to discover his voice as a painter.

Mischa’s work is abstract, colourful, and layered. His paintings invite contemplation and radiate a sense of calm. He sees his art as a counterbalance to the chaos of modern life – a visual space where stillness, emotion, and imagination meet. Each piece is a search for equilibrium, for harmony between colour and form, between feeling and stillness.

Today, Mischa is fully dedicated to his art. His diverse background – spanning dance, art trading, and visual
art – provides rich ground for his artistic vision. In his work, movement, aesthetics, and emotional depth converge, creating paintings that are not just artworks, but experiences.
